- Upcoming Wednesday Games
A gentle reminder that, for the next two weeks, we are playing on Wednesday mornings instead of Tuesday mornings.
The switch to games on Wednesday, June 25 is necessitated due to the two-day clean-up required by the R.A. Centre following its hosting of the Escapade Music Festival (June 20-22). Since Canada Day falls this year on a Tuesday, games for that week will be played on Wednesday, July 2.
- Sponsored Lunch – Hometown Sports Grill
Please plan to attend our sponsored lunch at Hometown Sports Grill (1525 Bank St.) following games on Wednesday, June 25. Support for this long-standing sponsor of our league is particularly important this year due to the challenges the restaurant is facing due to the construction on Bank St.
- We Need More Spares
Our list of spare players is rather short this year. In fact, there have been weeks in which the demand for spares from captains has exceeded supply. This being the case, we are requesting that regular players encourage their friends and neighbours to sign up as spares. A simple online registration form for spares is available at our website: https://ottawa60plusslo-pitch.ca/ There is no cost to play as a spare.
- Heat Advisory Policy
A reminder that, in the interests of protecting the health and well-being of our participants, the league postpones games or shortens the lengths of games in the event of heat warnings. As luck would have it, the weather forecast calls for the current heat wave to end some time on Tuesday, June 24, so we should be fine to play on Wednesday, June 25. However, the league Executive will monitor carefully the weather conditions early Wednesday morning, and captains will be notified by 7:30 a.m. if games need to be postponed or shortened. We strongly recommend that, for all games, players bring along a sufficient supply of cool water or sports drinks.
